Sagar Thakker was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. Having dhol in his life from when he was young he has been playing since he was 12 years old. He started playing in homes for Indian Gospel gatherings better known as Bhajans, this is where he picked up a beat. In this environment every person sings very differently so adapting to different singing styles was something he picked up very quickly.
In 2008 Sagar graduated highschool and this is when he picked up the sticks and started playing dhol in more professional settings. He started getting to know the Atlanta wedding scene and before long became really good friends with a majority of the vendors around town. Summertime is always prime time wedding season so over the years more and more people heard his dhol skills and hired him outside of Atlanta and outside of the country as well!
Sagar’s main goal when it comes to playing dhol is having fun, not only is he having fun but he’s making sure everyone around him is feeling his vibes and hearing his drum. At the end of the day it’s all about smiles on peoples faces and making sure they’re dancing non-stop!
